The California bar exam results for February 2023 have been released.



Repeat takers accounted for 71% of all candidates who sat for the bar exam.

The overall pass rate was 32.5%,

The first time taker pass rate was 45%.

The repeat-takers pass rate was 28%.

California ABA Schools – First-Time Takers 49%; Repeat Takers 37%

Out-of-State ABA Schools – First-Time Takers 47%; Repeat Takers 34%

California Accredited (not ABA – First-Time Takers 31%; Repeat Takers 18%

Unaccredited Fixed Facility – First-Time Takers 33%, Repeat Takers 11%

Unaccredited Correspondence – First-Time Takers 25%, Repeat Takers 8%

Unaccredited Distance Leaning – First-Time Takers 21%, Repeat Takers 10%

All Applicants – First-Time Takers 45%, Repeat Takers 28%
